This Spring Sturgeon Season was awesome. In the start of March, we found the less than 6 footers everywhere, having multiple clients saying their arms were noodles the next day. It stayed very consistent through April, and we made a location change which brought in the dinosaurs. Had several over the 7-foot mark and even some pushing 9 feet!  It was such a fun season that transitioned into Spring Chinook.

Big Sturgeon, Bigger Bites!

The Sturgeon fishing has been unreal. We have hooked into tons of 6+ foot Sturgeon that really bring the fight to you. The average size has been between 7-8 feet but have seen some that break the 8-foot mark. We have been experiencing Sturgeon fishing at its best since April! All I have to say is if you want to be put to a physical and metal test, these huge White Sturgeon are the trip to book!

Washington Keeper Sturgeon 2026

Yesterday was a rare opportunity for the Columbia River because they decided to give us one day to retain Sturgeon. I got a boat full of clients booked up a couple days after they announced the opener and off we went. I had gone down the day before and pre fished, catching 4 keepers right off the bat, thinking i had this one in the bag.

We get to the water early in the morning to guarantee our spot and start fishing. It wasn’t long until we had our first bite and reeled in our first fish. It was too small, so we had to let it go due to the slot limit being 38’’-54’’. We caught many fish back-to-back all morning and making it for a fun day but no keepers yet. As the day progressed with pouring rain and cold conditions, we moved from spot to spot trying to find bigger fish. At around 11 o’clock our hope was wearing thin after catching over 20 sturgeon that were just too small. We switched spots yet again and set out the rods waiting for another bite. To our surprise we had a bigger bite and we knew this fish had a chance of being our first keeper. It was! That got the skunk off the boat and within a couple hours we caught all of out 5 keeper sturgeon making it a memory we will not forget!
